SCRIPT POLISHING
I am an experienced script polisher, having polished scripts for numerous narrative TV shows and features, including eight series of the BBC’s multi-award-winning children’s comedy So Awkward, and Sky’s mini-series Little Darlings.
“As a script polisher on other writers’ scripts, Anthony works with consideration and sensitivity, but with the confidence to look for changes and inject comedy to elevate the script.”
– Sally Martin (So Awkward, D.O.A, Officially Special)
Polishing a comedy script might include anything from punching up the gags, to sharpening dialogue, adding more visual and physical humour, strengthening the story and making the characters more distinct and engaging.
Script polishing isn’t about forcing in random jokes or replacing material for the sake of it, it’s about being sensitive to the original writer’s style and staying true to the tone of the work and the voice of the characters.
When I polish a script, my aim is always the same; to make the script better, while authentically reflecting the original writer and presenting them in the best possible light.
